I had dinner with some friends at Watch City Brewery in Waltham last Friday before heading down to wonderful Brooklyn, New York for the weekend.

I briefly dated a girl who was into bourbon and whisky and rye singin’ this’ll be the day that I die. I tried to get on board with it, but It’s not really my thing. I’m just not a fan of those sipping liquors, the ones that you get a tiny, tiny pour of in a short glass and determine its worth via its age and then you just kinda nurse it for like a zillion years the next hour and a half. Shandy. It’s kind of an odd word. I know a lot of people aren’t fond of these beer/fruit juice mixtures, but I have loved them ever since my first radler on a trip to Germany in 2000. When I came home from that trip and described drinking beer mixed with lemonade (or, yes, beer mixed with Coca-Cola), I got a lot of reactions from people that ranged from “I’d rather drink mouthwash” to “I want that in my mouth so hard.” Continue reading Shandy, the divisive mixture beer
